Hazelnut Cane Teepee Weaving Workshop

Sunday 5 May

Led by Dawn Allen, head florist extraordinaire at Peninsula Wild Flower, you will create a rustic and unique teepee from site grown hazelnut cane at Red Hill Truffles.

Set amongst the Hazelnut trees, this intimate and hands on workshop is the perfect introduction to the age-old skill of weaving. Afternoon tea is included.

Focus on Fungi @ Red Hill Truffles

Truffles & Mushrooms, Sunday 7 July

Join us for a fun and informative winter’s day in the hinterland of Red Hill.

The morning will be spent hunting truffles with Jenny McAuley and her dogs Thomas and Maddie at Red Hill Truffles, followed by an intriguing look at how mushrooms are grown and harvested with Jessie from Mushroom Forestry.

Learn about different varieties of edible mushroom and how to grow them. Experience the thrill of a truffle hunt through the oak and hazelnut trees and see super sniffer truffle dogs at work. Touch, smell, photograph and even purchase a freshly dug truffle.

Enjoy a lunch of truffle and mushroom treats with wine from Elgee Park and discover the best ways to store, prepare, cook and serve both truffles and mushrooms.

Truffle Hunt & Tasting

Experience the thrill of a truffle hunt.

Jenny McAuley and her super sniffer truffle dogs Thomas and Maddie will lead you through the oak and hazelnut trees of this private Red Hill Truffiere. You will have the opportunity to taste, smell, handle, photograph and even purchase freshly harvested truffle. Jenny will discuss growing, harvesting and cooking with truffle before you enjoy a light lunch of truffle produce and dishes.

Truffle Hunt & Brunch

Rug up for an early morning hunt through the misty truffiere with Jenny, Thomas and Maddie. Following the hunt, you will have the opportunity to taste, smell and handle freshly harvested truffle before sating your appetite with a truffle infused brunch. Think truffle butter on toast, dripping with truffle honey or truffled scrambled eggs.
Truffle and products will be available for purchase.

Truffle Hunt & 2 course lunch

Meet Danielle from MP Experience at the private property of Red Hill Truffles. Meet and greet with Jenny and her truffle dogs Thomas and Maddie, before a tour of the grounds and informative discussion. The pooches will show off their truffle hunting skills, then make your way to the recently restored historic pavilion for a demonstration of cleaning and storing truffle. Truffle will be available for purchase on the day.
A short 5 minute drive will then take you to the award winning Max’s Restaurant at Red Hill Estate where you will enjoy a two course truffle inspired lunch and glass of wine, overlooking the vineyard and Westernport Bay.

Be met in Melbourne CBD by Danielle and transported to the beautiful Mornington Peninsula and Red Hill Truffles. Meet Jenny and her truffle dog Thomas, learn about the farm and see Thomas in action. Truffle will be available for purchase on the day.
We then take you to the award winning Max’s Restaurant at Red Hill Estate where you will indulge in a 5 course ‘black gold’ truffle inspired degustation lunch with matched wines overlooking the vineyard and Westernport Bay. Savour your day as you are driven back to Melbourne in comfort.

Truffle Degustation Lunch @ Red Hill Truffles

Rug up for a truffle hunt in the crisp winter’s air at Red Hill Truffles. Owner Jenny and her trusty truffle dogs Thomas and Maddie will walk you through the Mornington Peninsula’s only producing truffiere. Learn all about the harvesting techniques as you hunt for a precious orb of black gold.

Then warm yourself by the bonfire with a glass of something restorative before indulging in an eight course degustation lunch prepared by Michelin Star chef and truffle expert Romuald Oudeyer.

Romu’s experience with truffles comes from his time at the Michelin Star La Truffière – a gastronomic restaurant known for its truffle dishes in the winter, its ever-evolving menu, endless creativity, and perfection all year round. After meeting his Australian wife and moving to Melbourne, Romu has worked at some highly regarded Melbourne restaurants, including Jacques Reymond’s Bistro Gitan and Frank Camora’s Mo Vida Aqui.

Now offering his services as a private chef, Romuald insists on working with the highest quality, seasonal produce. His style of cooking embodies an elegance and grandeur reminiscent of the finest restaurants in Paris. With an acute eye for detail and refined technique, he is consistent in producing intricate, visually pleasing, and above all, incredibly delicious dishes.

Romu’s dishes will be matched to wines from Elgee Park.
