  • If you are coming from Melbourne you should allow for about 1.5 hrs to ensure you are not delayed by traffic on the freeways. Make sure you bring suitable footwear to walk around the farm and clothing appropriate for the expected weather for the day.

The farm address is 235 Arthurs Seat Rd Red Hill. Note that the farm is actually set back from the road hidden by a reserve of trees. There will be signs out 30 minutes before the event on the roadside indicating where to enter.

  • Most importantly don’t wear shoes that are not suitable for walking in a wet paddock. We recommend gumboots or hiking/work boots. You will be asked to dip your foot wear in a bleach bath prior going into the Truffiere. If you are wearing shoes make sure they are flat closed in shoes. You will be provided with disposable shoe coverings over your shoes whilst in the Truffiere. These footwear requires are in place for biosecurity reasons.

  • On the top of this page there is a weather forecast. You should always be prepared for varied conditions. In the winter although the temperature may be mild the wind can make it feel much colder. In the summer you should have a hat and have sunscreen on all exposed skin.

  • We recommend you bring your own umbrella, however there is limited supply of umbrellas at the farm.

  • Gates will be open 30 minutes prior to the advertised start time for the hunt. There are flags and signs indicating where to park. Council requires that all patrons park on our property and not in the reserve out front. There will be a staff person out front assisting with parking and checking off that everyone has arrived.

You will be instructed to walk to the Hunt Pavilion where you will be greeted by your host. Tea, coffee and water will be available.

  • Yes. If the event is fully booked you will be presented with the option to add your contact details on a waitlist. If a place should become free you will be notified by email.

Note that for some hunts there may be 2 sessions, 30 minutes apart. So if one session is full the other may be available.

  • Hunts are designed primarily for adults, however, childern are welcome.

We have limited seating when we host the meal after the hunt. Our Saturday Lunch and Sunday Brunch/Lunch are always full. So we can’t accommodate children without a ticket. For weekend hunts you can select the hunts where you go onto a local restaurant where they can accommodate seating for your children.

The hunt starts with a 30 minute talk on truffles, the history of our farm and how to grow truffles. The hunt will last for at least an hour, all guests are required to stay within an area directed by the hunt leader. Everyone must stay with the group and not run about and certainly not tread on the ground where truffles grow around the trees. The hunt finishes with a wash demonstartion and another talk for about 20 minutes and a sit down meal for about an hour. If your child can cope with these constraints then they are very welcome to participate.
