Hunt, Gather & Dine

Hunting, finding and then gathering truffles to have served at a restaurant is a gourmet adventure. Join a hunt at the Mornington Peninsula’s first and only truffle hunting farm to forage for the underground treasures with our hunting hounds; learn how to carefully remove the knobbly fungi from the soil and scrub them clean; then depending on which of our partner restaurants you select, shave the black gold on your meal, or have it done for you.  Each hunt guest (12+yrs) will receive fresh truffle valued at $45 to enjoy at their chosen restaurant.

Truffle Hunt & Graze at The Epicurean

$180 (12yrs+) | 2 hours for the hunt | truffle meal at The Epicurean

Taking a freshly harvested truffle to enjoy at a restaurant called The Epicurean could almost be described as a poetic scenario set in Red Hill.

Hunting truffles at our Red Hill farm, learning about truffles, why they are so highly prized and (we think) delicious, and taking the fresh fungi to the Epicurean in Red Hill where you can shave it on something special from the menu, is a gourmet outing from start to finish.

Truffle Hunt, Gather & Dine at Max’s

$197 (12yrs+); $129 under 12 | 2 hours hunt | Saturday dinner or Sunday lunch at Max’s Restaurant

A truffle-inspired lunch prepared by a talented chef and enjoyed in a dining room overlooking the Red Hill hinterland is a delightful escape from the everyday world. This peninsula visit begins with a truffle hunt combining stories of truffles, their cultivation in Australia and immersion in the truffiere’s avenue of truffle trees and underground treasures. Guests harvest the buried treasure and present it at Max’s Restaurant to be served with specially prepared dishes. Vegan and Gluten Free options available.

$190 (12yrs+); $99 under 12 | 2 hours for hunt starting at 4pm Fridays & Saturdays; 12pm Sundays

The distance between Barmah Park Winery and Restaurant, in the rural township of Moorooduc, and our Red Hill Truffles farm is an enticing lure to experience more of the Mornington Peninsula’s many culinary and natural features.

Hunt truffles in our truffiere’s avenues of oak and hazelnut trees, learn some of their history, and get your hands dirty harvesting the fungi. With washed truffles (and hands), take a short, leisurely drive to relax and enjoy your truffle with a two-course gourmet lunch or dinner at the Barmah Park estate surrounded by rolling vineyards. Vegan and Gluten Free options available.
