A Winter Weekend of Celebration
Our famous Truffle Hunt & Lunch is back, and this time we have 2 sessions to choose from:
10am and 12.30pm on Sunday 21st July !
The day starts with an interactive truffle hunt with the Mornington Peninsula’s first truffle producer and founder of Red Hill Truffles, Jenny McAuley, at her stunning farm in Red Hill. Jenny’s expert knowledge of truffles, fungi and the peninsula, coupled with her engaging storytelling, build on the ancient mystique of truffle hunting in preparation for an exhilarating hunt. Get your hands dirty with Jenny and her truffle hunting dogs Thomas and Maddie, as the dogs put their well-honed skills to work finding truffles, which you can uncover, digging carefully to reveal the well-hidden fungi and release its aroma.
After the thrill of the hunt, it’s time to head to The Restaurant at Montalto for a 5-course truffle-inspired lunch where the winter truffles you’ve unearthed on your hunt will be freshly shaven over each spectacular dish.
A Celebration of Truffle
Just as the winter tides reflect the change of season, so to do the types of ingredients our local producers grow.
Winter is truffle season, and to celebrate, Laura at Pt Leo is offering a series of lunches, showcasing this rare and valuable product from local farm, Red Hill Truffles.
Your day begins at 11.30am at Laura, with a cooking demonstration by Culinary Director, Josep Espuga. This will be followed by a bespoke four-course menu, with all dishes enriched by truffles. Discover the unique flavour profiles and culinary possibilities of these rare and highly prized delicacies, perfectly paired with our exquisite wine selection.
Optionally you can start your day with a truffle hunt at Red Hill Truffles at 9.30am (booked separately) before join us at Laura at 11.30am.
These events are on July 19th, July 24th & August 11th.
On Sunday 25th August, we are closing the series with the LUXE TRUFFLE LUNCH with a seven-course extravaganza. The owners of Red Hill Truffle Farm, Jenny & Mike (and their gorgeous hunting dogs) will be in attendance.
