Discover the art of truffle hunting. Immerse yourself in the cool-climate of the Mornington Peninsula and uncover some ‘black gold’ under the old oak, hazelnut and pine trees of Red Hill Truffles with some help of their incredible truffle hunting dogs.

Begin your truffle experience with the Mornington Peninsula’s first truffle producer, Jenny McAuley, at Red Hill Truffles for a unique foraging experience.

Following the hunt, warm up by the fire in the two hatted Ten Minutes by Tractor restaurant where Head Chef Hayden Ellis will prepare a five course tasting menu paired with the freshly foraged local truffles.

Join us on a captivating truffle experience, where nature's bounty meets culinary artistry. Embark on an exclusive foraging expedition at Red Hill Truffles. Then, retreat to The Dining Room for a slow evening by the fire. As you arrive your host Julian Morgan, Executive Chef Tony Brazendale, and their teams will greet you with a glass of Lindenderry sparkling to set your senses ahead of an elegant night of food with exquisite flavours, thoughtfully prepared for discerning palates. Enjoy delectable canapés and live music in the cosy ambiance of the Fire-lit Peninsula Lounge. Our 5-course menu and expertly curated never seen before list of paired wines from our museum of wines, will enchant your senses, allowing you to savour the distinct flavours and aromatic allure of these prized delicacies.

To make the evening even more memorable, each guest will receive a complimentary truffle-themed gift to take home.

The hunt commences at Red Hill Truffles at 2pm, which is a relaxed 20-minute walk along a track from Lancemore Lindenderry Red Hill or a few minutes drive.

The experience of an afternoon winter truffle hunt followed by dinner showcasing truffles, is a revelation of the world surrounding the knobbly, pungent fungi.

The gourmet jewel often referred to as black gold or a kitchen diamond has a fascinating history explained at the outset of the hunt by our aficionado Jenny McAuley. Exploring the truffiere with truffle-hunting dogs, uncovering hidden truffles, & drinking in their aroma awakens the senses. A truffle dinner at Max’s Restaurant is the final piece of the jigsaw where guests can indulge in the flavours truffles impart with each dish. We recommend some time relaxing after the hunt in preparation for an evening of fine dining.

We’re thrilled to partner with one of our favourite local producers, Red Hill Truffles, for an incredible event: Winter Truffle Hunt & Lunch. The day starts at 10am with an interactive truffle hunt with the Mornington Peninsula’s first truffle producer and founder of Red Hill Truffles, Jenny McAuley, at her stunning farm in Red Hill.

Jenny’s expert knowledge of truffles, fungi and the peninsula, coupled with her engaging storytelling, build on the ancient mystique of truffle hunting in preparation for an exhilarating hunt. Get your hands dirty with Jenny and her truffle hunting dogs, as the dogs put their well-honed skills to work finding truffles, which you can uncover, digging carefully to reveal the well-hidden fungi and release its aroma.

After the thrill of the hunt, it’s time to head to The Restaurant at Montalto for a 5-course truffle-inspired lunch where the winter truffles you’ve unearthed on your hunt will be freshly shaven over each spectacular dish.
